Headwaters & Stream Management

Work Group Chairs - Mary Ace & Andy Riehl

Identifies needs and develops approaches to protect the WMA’s trout production streams, riparian areas and water quality. Identifies riparian areas that require protection and preservation. May help plan and implement projects. Develops strategies for the management plan to improve riparian area preservation in the WMA.

Stormwater Management & Hydrology

Work Group Chair - Steve Souza

Identify needs and strategies to develop an institutional framework for a regional, watershed-based approach to stormwater management related to future development. In addition, identify strategies for managing stormwater from existing development and linking both types of management on a watershed basis. These strategies should include setting priorities, identifying infrastructure, and developing priorities and costs associated with watershed based stormwater planning.

Land Use & Open Space

Work Group Chair - Seat Currently Vacant

Identifies situations where existing land uses cause or may cause watershed problems, and identifies management practices to address these issues. Identifies opportunities for open space preservation that would help protect critical watershed resources. Develops strategies for the management plan to address these issues.

Education and Outreach

Work Group Chair - Peg Van Patton

Develops and works with staff and volunteers to develop plan components in education, to implement public education/outreach efforts, and to generate involvement in watershed planning, awareness of watershed issues and interest in plan implementation.
