Watershed Project
Manager Position Available
Full-Time
/ 40 hours per week
The
South Branch Watershed Association,
based in Stanton Station, New Jersey, seeks to hire an articulate and
energetic individual for the position of Watershed Project Manager. The
successful candidate will implement existing projects and assist with
the development of new projects involving the conservation of watershed
resources with a focus on stormwater management, stream restoration, and
land use planning issues. The Watershed Project Manager performs
research and outreach functions in an effort to encourage individuals
and public and private entities to adopt ecologically sound practices in
planning for new development and maintaining existing development.
Occasional evening meetings and weekend work should be anticipated. This
position reports to the Executive Director.
Duties and
Responsibilities:

Fulfill
the Association’s responsibilities as a partner in an EPA Targeted
Watersheds grant by conducting outreach activities targeting
homeowners, golf courses, and businesses to reduce non-point source
pollution and promote understanding of environmentally sound
property management practices; and conduct field work as a member of
the stream restoration project team

Conduct reviews of
municipal master plans, natural resource inventories and ordinances,
and conduct research to identify sources, studies, and literature
that support ecologically sound planning practices

Coordinate Hunterdon
County Green Table Forum events
-
Research, write
proposals for, and management grants
-
Write newsletter
articles and press releases
-
Coordinate and
conduct outreach activities, including public presentations and
river outings
-
Supervision of
interns and volunteers
- Assist Executive Director with
development of new projects and initiatives
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree,
plus two to three years work experience in natural or environmental
science, ecology, natural resources, land use planning or related
field
-
Excellent
interpersonal, organizational, writing, and public speaking skills
-
Non-profit work
experience
-
Project development
and management experience
-
Ability to work with
various stakeholders including other non-profits, public and private
property owners, local, county and state officials, businesses, and
professional consultants
-
Ability to organize
public meetings and events
-
Ability to recruit
and supervise volunteers
-
Grant-writing and
management experience
-
Knowledge of New
Jersey land use planning and watershed management issues
-
Knowledge of the
South Branch of the Raritan River Watershed desirable
-
Proficiency with
computer programs, including Publisher, Access, Word, Excel, and
Power Point
-
Competence with the
use of GIS technology a plus
Salary and Benefits:
Salary
range low $30,000’s plus health insurance, retirement plan, vacation
and holidays.
