NJ-AWRA: Fall Conference 2005

New Jersey Flood Plain Management - Past, Present and Future

The Flood Plain Management Committee of NJ-AWRA is taking the lead on planning the annual fall conference. This year’s conference titled “New Jersey Flood Plain Management - Past, Present and Future” is to be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at the Double Tree Hotel in Franklin Township, Somerset County. Conference Chairperson Mariana Mossler noted that there will be a number of speakers present including welcoming remarks by the Mayor of Franklin Township, Dirk Hoffman discussing the history of flood plain management in New Jersey, Mark Mauriello reviewing the Association of State Flood Plain Managers mission, representatives of FEMA and New Jersey Office of Emergency Management discussing mitigation programs, John Miller, Secretary of NJ-AWRA, discussing the results of a New Jersey Flood Plain Management survey of the 566 municipalities, and a representative discussing the National Flood Insurance Program and Community Rating System. The keynote speaker will be Wayne Sallade discussing the Charlotte, Florida experience with last year’s hurricane disasters.
